CHIN Radio/TV International is Canada’s first multicultural radio station. Started in 1966 by the late Johnny Lombardi, CHIN Radio/TV International paved the way for multicultural broadcasting in Canada. Today, CHIN Radio broadcasts in over 32 languages across its two frequencies, AM 1540 and FM 100.7 in Toronto. In 2003, CHIN Radio expanded and opened a sister station in Ottawa (FM 97.9), the very first third language radio service in the nation’s capital, serving over 18 languages and cultures in the Ottawa/Gatineau region.
The contribution of CHIN Radio to the cause of multiculturalism, understanding and tolerance between people of many national, racial and religious origins has been recognized and acknowledged throughout Canada.
